Our Best Dartboard Lighting Systems
After doing our research and trying out different products, we put together our list and we believe many other darts players will agree these lighting systems are the most quality options on the market.
Here are what a quality lighting system should have:
- Excellent brightness
- Even light distribution
- Long-lasting durability
- Being easy to install and carry if needed
- Being sturdy and compatible with many dartboards
- Reasonable price
1. Target Darts Corona Vision – Our Top-Rated Dartboard Lighting System
Why you should buy
- Excellent brightness
- Shadowless lighting
- Magnetic attachment
- Hard to get hit by darts
- Sturdy and thin frame
- Ease of installation
- Lightweight
What you should be aware of
- Not cheap price (but totally worth it)
Target Darts Corona Vision Dartboard Lighting System
- Brand: Target Darts
- LxWxH: 26.97 x 26.97 x 2.36 inches
- Weight: 1.9 kilograms
- Power Source: Corded electric
- Our rating: 9.5/10
It’s just simply amazing! When we turn it on in a dark room, the light totally does what it’s supposed to. We can see very clearly every number and segment on it. The lighting distribution is on-point.
No shadow is on the playing surface. When we tried to wave our hands inside, still no shadow. This must be because of the feature they call “shadowless”.
The light ring is thin and relatively far away from the board’s playing surface, which means fewer chances to get hit by your darts. Even if your darts hit the frame, we think it can still hold up well since the plastic feels strong and study. We don’t have any trouble pulling out the darts after each turn.
The installation is super easy, only taking a few minutes. No drilling or screwing work is required. Just slide the separate magnetic feet/legs into the light ring. Then, attach those magnetic legs to the outside steel ring of your dartboard. In case of dartboard surround, simply snug the legs in between the board and surround. You can also easily detach to rotate the board or carry the light ring around (very lightweight). => Check short video here
Since this option checks all the criteria for a high-quality lighting system, it is simply our top-rated choice. The only downside could be the price. It’s certainly not cheap. But we can confirm it lasts for a very long time, which is totally worth an investment.
2. Mission Darts TOR270 Torus 270 – Dartboard Lighting System with Smart Design
Why you should buy
- Excellent brightness
- Shadowless lighting
- Gap at the bottom to retrieve darts easily
- Sturdy and thin frame
- Hard to get hit by darts
What you should be aware of
- Some effort needed for the installation
- Some effort needed to rotate the board
Mission Darts TOR270 Torus 270 Lighting System
- Brand: Mission Darts
- LxWxH: 28 x 24.1 x 2.8 inches
- Weight: Around 2 kilograms
- Power Source: Corded electric
- Our rating: 9/10
Another great choice that can go toe to toe with the Target Corona Vision is the Mission Darts Torus 270. The brightness is not much different between the two products. Both do their job perfectly lighting up the playing surface.
The biggest difference is that the Torus 270 has a gap at the bottom (not a complete 360 light ring). This is better for pulling out the darts after each turn, especially for young players. Whereas for a 360 ring, people tend to hit the bottom part with their elbows. Despite this bottom gap, the light is still evenly distributed, with no shadow anywhere on the playing surface.
The legs connecting the dartboard with the light ring are made from metal, which is very sturdy and strong. So, no worries if you hit them occasionally.
That said, the setup is not completely seamless. You will need to put the included clips in the right locations on the board, then screw the legs to the ring frame, and finally slide them in the clips. Although it’s not that difficult, it does takes some time for the installation.
Another downside is that it will also take some time to take the light ring out to rotate the board. Pro tip: if you have a dartboard surround, just shove it into the surround without mounting brackets. This will make it easier to take the light out.
3. ONE80 ILLUMINA – Best Traditional Type of Dartboard Lighting System
Why you should buy
- Excellent brightness
- Shadowless lighting
- Traditional type of light
- Natural lighting color (sunlight yellow)
- Sturdy metal frame
- Hard to get hit by darts
- Cheaper price
What you should be aware of
- Some effort needed for installation (drilling)
ONE80 ILLUMINA Dartboard Lighting System
- Brand: ONE80
- LxWxH: 31.1 x 7.2 x 3.6 inches
- Weight: Around 2 kilograms
- Power Source: Corded electric
- Our rating: 9/10
Many players don’t like the 360 light ring since the circular frame seems like a distraction while throwing and it can be an obstacle to retrieve darts. If you are among these players, then the ONE80 Illumina is definitely the choice to go. It’s also cheaper than the options mentioned above.
It’s a traditional type of lighting system that the light comes from the top down to the dartboard. That said, there’s no shadow at all at the bottom of the board. The light is distributed evenly. Impressive!
Unlike the Target Corona and Mission Torus 720 which have a bright white lighting color, the ONE80 Illumina has a very natural color, kind of the warm yellow of sunlight, which is more comfortable for the eyes.
The frame is made from metal. Very strong and sturdy. And since the light is installed above the dartboard, you don’t need to worry about hitting the frame with your darts and it won’t add any difficulty when you rotate your board.
The setup, however, will need some measuring and drilling work. Also, it can hardly fit without any modification if you have a cabinet.
Our Criteria for Quality Dartboard Lights
If you wonder how to choose a high-quality lighting system, here is our guide for you.
First up, brightness. You want your lighting to be bright enough (not too bright) to light up the whole board and eliminate any pesky shadows. That way, you can aim your darts accurately and make sure you hit those bullseyes, doubles, and triples.
Next, even light distribution is key. You don’t want any hotspots or dark areas on the board that can mess up your game. So, make sure your lighting system is designed to distribute the light evenly across the whole board.
Durability is also important. You don’t want to be replacing your lighting system every few months, so make sure to choose a high-quality, durable option that can withstand regular use.
And let’s be real, no one wants to struggle with installation. Look for a lighting system that’s easy to install and won’t require any special tools or professional installation.
It’s also important to make sure your lighting system is compatible with a variety of dartboards and mounting systems. That way, you have flexibility and convenience in setting up your game.
Lastly, aesthetics matter! You want a lighting system that looks great and complements the overall look of your dartboard and game room. Plus, some lighting systems even come with adjustable brightness settings, so you can customize the lighting to your liking.
Based on these criteria and our product research framework, we were able to pick our best dartboard lighting systems on the market: the Target Corona Vision, Mission Torus 270, and the One70 Illumina. With this shortlist, we hope you can find the right one for yourself. Happy darting!
