This product checks all the boxes for a good purchase: high quality, very reasonable price, authentic manufacturer. In case you didn’t know, Red Dragon and Winmau are both owned by Nodor. Many professionals have been using Red Dragon darts in pro tournaments, including Peter Wright, Gerwyn Price, Jonny Clayton, and many others.

The barrel of the Red Dragon Pegasus has a small smooth section at the nose and at the rear. The rest 80% is ring grip in the middle. As we hold a dart in hand, it feels comfortable, not too slippery, and not too grippy. We rate it 2.5 out of 5 for the grip.

We recommend this product because it has excellent quality for a reasonable price. The good balance in the middle makes it suitable if you’re a middle gripper. And with the straight ringed barrel, you can easily move your grip toward the front or the back.

The tip, shaft, and flight seem to work just fine. The product comes in different weights 21g, 22g, 24g, 26g, 28g, 30g.

If you’re a middle gripper and you want your grip to be consistent for every throw, the Simon Whitlock WC Edition is the option to go.

It has a scallop in the middle of the straight barrel. Simon always places his thumb on this part to ensure he grips the darts in the correct position every time. The front of the barrel has wide rings with deeply-cut grooves, which helps you get a better feel of your finger and a firmer grip.

We also love the colorful rainbow coating of the barrel, the green color of the short Vecta shaft, and the hologram Wizard flight. Overall, the darts look outstanding from others.

Interesting fact: This set of darts was released in 2022 to honor him winning the World Cup Championship. Let’s listen to the man himself speaking on his new darts

3. Red Dragon Peter Wright Snakebite 3

Grip level: 3.5/5

Red Dragon Peter Wright Snakebite 3

  • Brand: Winmau
  • Material: 90% Tungsten
  • Barrel Weight: 22g, 26g
  • Weight Distribution: Center
  • Dimensions: 7.3mm x 40.7mm
  • Grip Type: Shark/Razor grip

If you like a bomb-shaped and short barrel, this is it. The Peter Wright Snakebite 3 has been on the market for more than 7 years and still many mid-grippers love to play with them.

The darts have a smooth thick section at the front, a shark grip section in the middle, then a smooth straight section at the rear.

As a middle gripper, you will find it very comfortable and well-balanced to hold the darts in the shark grip section. Although it’s shark grip, it’s surprisingly not very grippy.

The shark grip section is quite spacious. You can easily move your thumb and index fingers forward or backward to find your best grip.

The logo of snakehead looks awesome on the black coating. The flight looks cool, too.

4. Red Dragon Scorpions

Grip level: 4/5

Red Dragon Scorpions

  • Brand: Red Dragon
  • Material: 85% Tungsten
  • Barrel Weight: 21g, 23g, 25g
  • Weight Distribution: Center
  • Dimensions: 6.2-7.7mm x 50.8mm
  • Grip Type: Shark grip

The last recommendation on the list is for you if you’re a middle-to-rear gripper. It has a quite strange barrel shape but many players find it effective for their throwing styles.

Red Dragon Scorpions darts have a tapered front section with a shark grip, a middle chunky smooth section with a few thin rings on it (7.7mm in width), and then a thin shark-grip section at the rear (6.2 mm).

You can hold the darts right on the ridge in the middle, which is not very grippy, or the shark-grip section at the rear, which is grippy, depending on your preferences.

5. Winmau Joe Cullen

Grip level: 3.5/5

Winmau Joe Cullen

  • Brand: Winmau
  • Material: 90% Tungsten
  • Barrel Weight: 23g
  • Weight Distribution: Center
  • Dimensions: 6.8mm x 50.8mm
  • Grip Type: Scallop with wide rings and deep grooves

Another good-looking set of darts with a scallop in the middle for mid-grippers! As mentioned earlier, a scallop will help you consistently place your fingers and hold the dart.

Joe Cullen said in an interview, “I’ve played with scallops before. It has always been sort of too deep and I feel it’s sticking when I throw.” So, the scallop of the Winmau Joe Cullen is made subtle, shallow, and spacious. It’s just enough for you to feel that you hold the dart in the right position => Watch the interview here

The scallop has wide rings and deeply-cut grooves, where you will find it very grippy. The front and back sections of the barrel have many double rings, also quite grippy, but not as the scallop.

Overall, it’s a nicely-designed dart set for middle grippers. The colors also look great with red and black.
